The Auburn-Central Florida game will mark the 50th matchup in Peach Bowl history, and what a history it has been. There have been so many close games featuring some of the best programs and players over the last half-century. With the game usually featuring an ACC or SEC team (or both), there is a territorial pull to the Peach Bowl unlike any other postseason game.
In a 15-year stretch from 1984 to 1998, every Peach Bowl was decided by a touchdown or less, with several of the games decided in the closing seconds.
Now, what was sort of a next-tier bowl game is part of the College Football Playoff rotation. The game is debuting in the new state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium and has routinely been one a the better New Year's Eve traditions.
